The Golden Book of the Sacred Heart

One of the Golden Books displaying the names of those enrolled

A perpetual share in our Masses and prayers
Enrolment in the Golden Book of the Sacred Heart is an everlasting gift. Those enrolled share for all time in the Masses and Prayers of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

Enrolments can be made for a wide variety of occasions such as a death, get well, wedding, wedding anniversary, birthday, confirmation, exams, thank you, retirement, healing, mother’s day, father’s day, Christmas and Easter.

Donations from enrolments in the Golden Book of the Sacred Heart support our missionary work especially in developing countries.

In January each year the lists of those enrolled during the previous year are bound in a special golden book.

This book is preserved in the Golden Book Room in the Mission Office where visitors can view it.

The annual editions of the Golden Book are retained at the Mission Support Centre. A copy is displayed at the altar during the public Novena in honour of the Sacred Heart each year at Sacred Heart Church, Western Road, Cork. The Novena is also celebrated by MSCs at our Retreat Centres at Myross Wood in west Cork, in our Spiritual Centre at Croi Nua, Rosary Lane, Taylor’s Hill, Galway, and in our Community House, Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

A copy of the Golden Book of the Sacred Heart and a copy of the Blue Book of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart were two of the gifts brought to the altar during our Mass of Thanksgiving in Cork Cathedral on 16 May 2009 to mark the centenary of the arrival of Missionaries of the Sacred Heart in Ireland.

Again, a copy of the Golden Book and a copy of the Blue Book were gifts brought to the altar during our Pilgrimage of Thanksgiving at Knock Shrine on 25 July 2009.
