We are deeply saddened to report the death of Father Martin Nome MSC in South Africa on 27th April 2009. Fr Martin was a member of the MSC Congo District of the Union of Francophone Africa (UAF). He was just 52 years old and had been living in South Africa with MSC from the Irish Province since 2007. Martin passed away quietly at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Pretoria. He was admitted last week and was being treated for advanced pneumonia. Sadly his heart condition, high blood pressure and cancer of the glands lead to his death. Martin passed away quietly at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, Pretoria. He was admitted last week and was being treated for advanced pneumonia. Father Martin had been learning English in Pretoria in anticipation of taking up an appointment in the South African Region. He was finally professed as a Missionary of the Sacred Heart in 1988 and ordained to the priesthood the following year. Before coming to South Africa he had been working in Parish ministry in Cameroun and in the diocesan Justice and Peace commission in the diocese of Mbandaka-Bikoro. May He Rest in Peace! |
