Death of Fr Adrian McHugh MSC![]() It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of one of our Irish confreres in South Africa. Fr Adrian McHugh MSC, aged sixty nine years, died on Friday afternoon 5th June 2009 in the hospital of the Little Company of Mary in Pretoria. Adrian was recently diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas. Unfortunately his illness was so far advanced that the treatment was not sufficient and he deteriorated rapidly. Originally from Swinford, Co Mayo in the west of Ireland, Fr Adrian’s entire priestly and MSC ministry was exercised in South Africa. Most recently he served in Christ the King Parish in Musina on the border with Zimbabwe. Fr Frank Bray, the Regional Superior in South Africa, was with Adrian when he died. As yet no definite arrangements have yet been made regarding Adrian’s funeral which will take place in South Africa towards the end of next week (week commencing Monday 8th June). We pray that Adrian is now resting in peace with the Lord and we pray for the members of his family who naturally are very saddened on hearing this news. We also remember in our prayers our confreres in Southern Africa at this time. |
